Just across the IJ River from Amsterdam Central Station, in the vibrant district of Amsterdam Noord, you'll find our atelier. This is where our skilled craftsmen work together to bring new collections to life.
Since 2013, every Pig & Hen design has been developed and handcrafted in Amsterdam. What started as a collection of handmade rope bracelets for men has grown into a diverse range of jewelry, including women's collections and sterling silver designs. Despite our growth, our commitment to craftsmanship remains unchanged. Every piece still begins its journey in Amsterdam.
From Ship Rope to Signature Jewelry
Our story began when founder Dominic Bakker recognized the potential of creating distinctive bracelets using authentic ship rope. Inspired by Amsterdam's maritime heritage, he transformed a functional material into a recognizable jewelry collection that reflects strength and adventure.
To this day, we work with the same family owned rope manufacturer in Portugal that supplied our first collection. Since the launch of Pig & Hen, this trusted partnership has ensured the consistent quality of the ship rope used in every bracelet.
The rope is carefully woven in Portugal before being transported to our Amsterdam atelier in large rolls. Once it arrives, the material is measured, cut, and handcrafted into Pig & Hen bracelets using original maritime tools. Every stage of the process requires expertise, patience, and a dedication to quality.
